Amy Santas
Dr. Santas grows human cells to study the composition and function of the dystroglycan complex in skin (epidermis). She utilizes biochemical methods including proteomics to identify novel members of the complex. Reports indicate this complex is reduced in the most aggressive patient cancers. Her basic science research aims to lay the foundation to better understand cancer development and possible new treatments. She also conducts research focused on the restoration of coal mine landscapes in the Appalachian forests. This research couples field methods with molecular techniques to better understand vegetation establishment, plant interactions, and system recovery in disturbed soils. Dr. Santas is committed to facilitating vocational exploration among undergraduates and serves the Program Administrator for NetVUE (Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education) efforts at 人兽性交 University.
