TEACHER-LEADER ENDORSEMENT

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

  • Endorsement builds on existing leadership credentials (Principal, Administrative Specialist, or Superintendent)
  • Fulfills required credential in Ohio Department of Education’s four-tier licensure system
  • For candidates who already hold a master’s degree: three courses + internship
  • For candidates pursuing MAE + endorsement: full master’s curriculum + internship
  • Designed to integrate with your existing educator license and leadership roles

CURRICULUM BREAKDOWN

Option A – Add Endorsement with Existing Master’s

  • EDUC 758 Supporting Professional Learning (4) 
  • EDUC 764 Internship: The Teacher-Leader in Action (3) 
  • EDUC 858 Understanding Professional Learning (4)

Option B – Earn Master’s + Endorsement
In addition to the above courses, take these along with MAE courses:

  • EDUC 606 Invitational and Inclusive Education (3) 
  • EDUC 708 Exploring Comparative Education (1) 
  • EDUC 721 Ethical Leadership and Policy Development (3) 
  • EDUC 751 Assessing for Learning (3)
  • EDUC 757 Improving Instruction (3) 
  • MOLP 781 Leadership Literacy: Applying Theory to Practice (3) 
  • MOLP 782 Informed Decision Making (3) 
  • MOLP 783 High-Impact Communication (3)

    After completing your master’s, take one additional course to fulfill the Teacher-Leader Endorsement (EDUC 764 Internship)

With the Teacher-Leader Endorsement, you’ll be positioned to:

  • Serve in teacher leadership or instructional coach roles within schools
  • Lead professional learning communities, mentoring, and curriculum initiatives
  • Support staff growth and instructional improvement as a teacher-leader
  • Fulfill credential requirements for Ohio’s top licensure tier
  • Build credentials to transition into higher-level administrative roles
