ONLINE INTERVENTION SPECIALIST (MODERATE / INTENSIVE) LICENSE

Prepare to teach students with moderate to intensive support needs through ÈËÊÞÐÔ½» University’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program. This track lets you earn your initial special education license online, preparing you to serve learners with moderate to intensive needs across ages 5–21 with evidence-based practices in inclusive settings.

LICENSE FOCUS FOR MODERATE/INTENSIVE INTERVENTION SPECIALIST

You’ll develop deep expertise in:

  • Characteristics, assessment, and needs of moderate/intensive learners
  • Instructional strategies for functional and academic skills
  • Behavioral supports, independence training, and life skills

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH AN INTERVENTION SPECIALIST (MODERATE/INTENSIVE) LICENSE?

With an Intervention Specialist Licensure in the Moderate/Intensive category, you will be prepared to:

• Teach and support learners ages 5–21 who require moderate to intensive assistance in academic, functional, and behavioral skill areas
• Design individualized instruction that promotes communication, independence, and meaningful life skills
• Provide evidence-based interventions that address cognitive, adaptive, behavioral, and sensory needs
• Implement inclusive practices that help students participate in general education settings
• Collaborate with families, specialists, and school teams to ensure comprehensive support and strong educational planning

CAREER OUTCOMES & ROLES

Graduates of this licensure track may pursue roles such as:

• Moderate/Intensive Intervention Specialist in K–12 schools
• Teacher in specialized programs serving learners with complex needs
