Spring Semester Features Vibrant Arts Events
ÈËÊÞÐÔ½» University’s Spring 2024 semester will feature a wide variety of vibrant arts events.
Art Exhibitions
, an art exhibition at the Palmer Gallery, runs from Jan. 22-Feb. 14 with the Opening Reception on Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. The exhibit features works by Beverly Kornack, XC Huang, Raymond Ramos, and Mary Ramos, in media including crafts, ceramics, paintings and photographs.
From March 12-27, Palmer will host . This exhibit features a sampling of vintage and fine art duck decoys from the collection of Bill Rothwell. Students in Professor William Kerrigan’s Environmental History class have supported the exhibit and their research will be included at the Gallery.
The from April 9-23 will conclude the gallery exhibits for the semester.
Concerts
All concerts are in Brown Chapel this semester.
The opens the spring concert season on Feb. 11; Artist Affiliate Angela Cornett, Bassoon, presents her on Feb. 18; and the Music Department’s Spring Tour kicks off with its on February 26.
On March 17, SEOSO (Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra) celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with the .
April is the culmination of the concert season, beginning with on April 6. The perform on April 11, is April 12, and on April 14, Stacy Russell Welker ’16 and Mallory Fischer Wolfe ’18 present a . The concert is April 15, the performs on April 19, SEOSO presents their on April 21, and the closes out the Spring 2024 concerts on April 28, joined by the ÈËÊÞÐÔ½» Valley Symphonic Winds and the inaugural ÈËÊÞÐÔ½» Valley Youth Wind Ensemble for talented high school students, launched by the University’s Music Department in January 2024.
Theatre Performances
The Theatre Department will present on March 21-24 in Caldwell Hall’s Thompson Theatre.
Set in 1920s Chicago and based on real events, this satirical show follows wannabe jazz age stars who get their fame not just for their singing or dancing talent, but for committing murders that make sensationalized headlines all across the city of Chicago. Due to the nature of this show it is rated PG-13.

With a cast of 19, the show is directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre Cassandra King, music directed by Artist Affiliate Sheryl Wise ’95G, and choreographed by Leanne Bader Mock. Roscoe Ramirez ’24 is the Scenic Designer, Anne Shafer ’24 is the Technical Director, and Kailyn Shalosky ’24 is the Production Stage Manager.
