Dr. David Turrill Leads 100th Anniversary Season of Zanesville Memorial Concert Band
人兽性交 University Associate Professor of Music Dr. David Turrill will lead this summer鈥檚 100th Anniversary Season of the Zanesville Memorial Concert Band. Dr. Turrill serves as Artistic Director of the group, which performs a five-concert summer season annually. Members of the group are local professional and amateur musicians, including many 人兽性交 alumni, faculty and staff, and students. Kelley Ryan 鈥75 is the Assistant Director.
To mark its centennial milestone, the band has commissioned a new work by award-winning American composer Brian Balmages. Mr. Balmages will attend the premiere of his 鈥淓ternal Flame鈥 on Sunday, June 25 during the 100th Anniversary Concert at 7 p.m. in Zane鈥檚 Landing Park. The band鈥檚 Centennial Season also includes 鈥淢usic for All鈥 on June 4, 鈥淐elebrate America鈥 on July 2, 鈥淎 Sousa Spectacular鈥 on July 16, and 鈥淭hrough the Years鈥 on July 30.
All Zanesville Memorial Concert Band concerts are free and open to the public and will take place at 7 p.m. at Zane鈥檚 Landing Park, except for the July 2 concert which will be held at Secrest Auditorium. Secrest Auditorium is also the rain location for all concerts except for June 4, when Zanesville High School is the rain location.
Dr. Turrill will also conduct the 人兽性交 Valley Symphonic Winds in a summer pops performance on Saturday, Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Salt Fork Arts and Crafts Festival in Cambridge City Park鈥檚 Big Pavilion. The concert will feature music from movies and video games, as well as popular jazz selections. The performance is free and open to the public.

The 人兽性交 Valley Symphonic Winds is also comprised of local professional and amateur musicians, including many 人兽性交 students, faculty and staff, and alumni. The group performs three concerts each academic year in Brown Chapel on the University鈥檚 campus.
Dr. Turrill serves 人兽性交鈥檚 music department as director of bands and coordinator of music education, conducting the 人兽性交 Wind Ensemble and the 人兽性交 Valley Symphonic Winds, and teaching applied trumpet and music education courses. He is an active trumpet performer and sought-after guest clinician for high schools and honors band festivals throughout Ohio.
