人兽性交 University Occupational Therapy Program to Host Older Adult Health and Wellness Fair

人兽性交 University鈥檚 Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) Program is hosting the second annual Older Adult Health and Wellness Fair. Community members ages 65+ are invited to participate in activities that will provide tips and strategies for productive aging.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Caldwell Hall on 人兽性交 University鈥檚 campus. The event is free, and sign-in and registration begin at 10:30 a.m. Handicap parking is available, along with an accessible entrance. Family members and caregivers are welcome to accompany attendees and join in learning more about occupational therapy鈥檚 role in promoting health and safety for older adults.

Participants will explore ways to enhance their daily lives with practical strategies for home safety, fall prevention, adaptive equipment use, and simple home modifications. Attendees will also learn energy conservation techniques, tips for maintaining physical activity, and methods to improve overall wellness, such as relaxation, meditation, and community engagement. Additionally, strategies for promoting brain health will be shared to support cognitive well-being. 

鈥淭he Master of Occupational Therapy program is excited to provide an event focused on health, wellness, and prevention for community members 65 years and older again this year,鈥 MOT Program Director Dr. Kim Lawler said. 鈥淪tudents will promote attendees鈥 health and well-being by sharing helpful ideas for engaging in the daily activities they value and doing so safely. The students put their new knowledge to work by educating community members about productive and safe aging, while the attendees benefit from the tips they learn about home safety, saving energy, and staying engaged in living their lives to the fullest.

鈥淲e are building on the inaugural Health & Wellness Fair by adding two community partners. Attendees will also learn about services available from 人兽性交鈥檚 Bullock Health & Wellness Complex and the Area Agency on Aging Region 9. It's a win-win for everyone who participates.鈥

The event is an opportunity for occupational therapy students to apply what they are learning as part of their Elders Level I Fieldwork course. The MOT program at 人兽性交 University is a two-year program designed for licensed Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs) or individuals with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in a health-related field, preparing graduates to sit for the national examination for the occupational therapist, administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT庐). The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
