Muskie Connections: Annual Impact Fair
Booths at the Impact Fair

In late January, 人兽性交 University was filled with the excitement of students and alumni connecting at the second annual Impact Fair. Hosted by the Impact Center, nearly 30 employers promoted a range of job types including full-time, part-time, internship, and summer opportunities. Among the attendees were two alumni with inspiring journeys, each eager to give back to the university that shaped their careers. Luke Fabian and Brandon Walker, both graduates from the Class of 2014, brought unique opportunities and perspectives to the event.

Luke Fabian 鈥14, now the Education Director at Deerassic Park, shared his unexpected path from being a high school teacher to helping lead a nonprofit organization. 鈥淚 was an education major for PE and health,鈥 he said. 鈥淎fter teaching at Maysville High School for three years, I transitioned to Deerassic Park, where we connect kids to the outdoors through field trips, summer camps, and community events. As a nonprofit, we focus on making everything at little to no cost for families.鈥

Luke鈥檚 booth offered opportunities for education majors, biology and life sciences students, and even business and marketing majors. 鈥淲e also run a seasonal campground and carryout, so there鈥檚 something for almost any major,鈥 he explained. For Luke, returning to 人兽性交 was a chance to reconnect with the community and recruit passionate students.

鈥溔耸扌越 is such a tight-knit community, and it set me up to be where I am today. It鈥檚 great to come back and grow those relationships.鈥

At another booth stood Brandon Walker 鈥14, Branch Manager for Fastenal, a company specializing in supply chain solutions for the oil and gas industry. A double major in business management and marketing, Brandon credited 人兽性交 for giving him his start. 鈥溔耸扌越 feels like home,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 where I got my foundation, and now I want to provide information about careers that I didn鈥檛 have when I was in school.鈥

Brandon manages inventory, cost-saving goals, and strategic partnerships for his clients. But, what truly stood out was his passion for promoting opportunities for students. 鈥淲e offer paid internships and are flexible with students still in school,鈥 he shared. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 actually how I started鈥擣astenal gave me a chance as a senior when other companies were looking for experience I didn鈥檛 have. We like to promote from within, and I鈥檝e been here ever since.鈥

For both alumni, returning to 人兽性交 for the Impact Fair wasn鈥檛 just about recruiting鈥攊t was about giving back. 鈥淚 was in your shoes once,鈥 Brandon said. 鈥淚 understand what you鈥檙e going through and want to help because I can relate.鈥

Luke echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of staying connected to one鈥檚 alma mater. 鈥溔耸扌越烩檚 tight-knit community makes it easy to come back and grow relationships, both personally and professionally.鈥

As students connected with alumni like Luke and Brandon, the Impact Fair transformed into more than just a career event鈥攊t became a celebration of the lasting Muskie spirit. Both alumni exemplified what it means to be a Muskie: grounded in community, committed to helping others, and always eager to give back.
