ΘΛΚήΠΤ½» to offer Intensive Reading Endorsement Program
Educators who wish to add a reading endorsement to their credentials can enroll in a new program at ΘΛΚήΠΤ½» University. Courses begin in early January 2013 in both Zanesville and New Philadelphia. Enrollees can complete the program by early June 2013, in time for the start of the 2013-2014 school year.
"We are pleased and excited to offer this endorsement which was created in response to Ohioβs Third-Grade Reading Guarantee,β said Nancy Bradley, coordinator of this program at ΘΛΚήΠΤ½» University.
The program will be offered in one after-school face-to-face meeting each week, plus three Saturday meetings. βWe hope that the format allows flexibility and accessibility for educators who are currently in the field,β added Bradley. The 12-hour program includes classes in teaching reading Pre-K through 12, advanced literacy assessment, and becoming a leader for literacy.
Completion of coursework in this program will count toward earning a masterβs degree at ΘΛΚήΠΤ½» University, explained Bradley. Enrollment in this program is limited and the application fee will be waived for those enrolling by December 19, 2012.
ΘΛΚήΠΤ½» University offers this innovative program in addition to several intensive endorsement programs β early childhood generalist, middle childhood generalist, and highly qualified teacher β available throughout the year.
